Financial Supports

There are a range of financial supports available to students registered with the Access Service.

Access Grants are provided to each and every Access Student as a part of the initial offer of a place in DIT.  This money is distributed (by cheque) to students throughout the academic year by their assigned Project Officer, Gráinne for Southside based students, John for Northside based students.  Please note that students must attend all Access Service Peer Mentor meetings in order to collect their grant.  The amount of the grant varies from year to year dependant on budget.

Student Grants (from your local VEC) should be available to all students who qualify to participate in the Access programme.  Amounts of these grants vary, but many students will be entitled to full maintenance.  In addition, some students will be eligible for a special top-up grant.  Please contact your local VEC for more information.

The Student Assistance Fund is an internal DIT scheme (funded by the EU Structural Funds) to which students can apply for additional funding to cover costs associated with food and transportation during the academic year.  Amounts of this grant vary significantly depending on individual student circumstances.  For the application form, please go on to the 'Forms' page.

Finally, Private Scholarships are available from many Irish corporations and are worth researching on your own.  Many will have their own application procedures, so its best to contact the relevant organisation directly for the most up-to-date information.
