New National Strategy for Higher Education to 2030 Launched!
Tuesday 22 February 2011 Category: DIT Access ServiceThe Department of Education and Skills has launched the new National Strategy for Higher Education to 2030. The government commissioned this document to be drawn up by a committee of experts in the field of higher education. The report, known as The Hunt Report, will greatly influence government policy in relation to higher education in Ireland in the coming years.
The report stresses the importance of third-level institutions reaching out to local communities, suggesting that this outreach should be as central to a third-level institution's mission as teaching or research. The DIT Community Links Programme was specifically named as an organisation leading the way in the formation of best practice in third-level outreach. All of the staff and volunteers affiliated with the Community Links Programme are delighted and honoured to receive this recognition.
