 BEGINNER COURSES

"First Steps To Computers - FIT"-This training is for people who have little or no experience with using computers or the Internet. Courses within First Steps include MY IT and e-Cert.

"e-Cert" - This course starts with the basic and also looks at Microsoft Word, File Management, Internet and Accessories. 

"My IT!"- This course starts with the basics and guides you through the fundamentals of using the  internet. This course is delivered through CD.

"I CAN DO"- Part 1 -This is an online course.

Getting Started
Helps you learn how to start the computer & recognise different hardware such as monitors, the mouse and printers.

Getting On-Line
Introduces you to the Internet & World Wide Web(WWW), helps you search for information and even make an on-line purchase.

Social Surf
Provides you with the skills & know how to browse, surf and search the web-safely & securely, and to ensure your own privacy.

            Web Share

You will learn about catching up with friends, sharing the latest news, posting photos, organising events, and uploading videos, as well as blogging or micro-blogging using mobile phones.

 Microsoft Office Publisher - Learn how to create your posters, flyers & leaflets.

 Microsoft Office Powerpoint - Learn how to create your dynamic and powerful presentations.

 INTERMEDIATE COURSES

"I CAN DO"- Part 2 - For people who have already covered the basics.

Photo

Here you will learn the skills & know how to use a digital camera, take & edit photographs, and manage & organise them into your digital photo collection.

 Video

Provides you with the skills & know how to use a digital video camera and to edit and compile simple video clips using movie editing software.

Music

Provides you with the skills & know how to use your digital music player(iPod) & manage and organise your digital music collection.

 

Photo Presentation - Using your own home photos, new or old, you can create a small home movie, adding in special effects such as music & slide transitions.

Create Your Own Website - Create your own website, adding in your own photos, links & information.

 

Microsoft Digital Literacy - This course will help you develop a fundamental understanding of computers.  From using the Internet, to sending E-Mails and creating a CV, this course will help you develop essentail skills to help you begin computing with confidence.

 

ICT Project -  In this course you can work as a group or an individual and select a topic of your choice that appeals to you eg; Family History.  Throughout the course you will use the rescources the Internet has to offer to find out any information on this topic and put together a project that you can showcase at the end of the year.

ADVANCED COURSES

Adobe Photoshop
- This is an advance course that shows you how to manipulate and edit images.
*Please note Adobe Photoshop is not available in all centres & some overhead charges apply.

Start Your Own Business - This course will guide you through the steps need to start your own business.

Microsoft IC3 - This is an advanced computer literacy course which consists of 3 modules;

1) Computer Fundamentals

2) Key Applications

3) Living On Line.

 

TRAIN THE TRAINER

This course is run over twelve weeks, 2 hours a session teaches participants how to communicate and pass on their new knowledge to students in their own communities. The course is accredited by DIT under the CPD Programme and carries three ECTS credits. Assessment is by way of a Teaching Micro Video, Submission of a Lesson Plan, a 500 word essay and 85% attendance. Minimum entry requirement IC3. Once students complete both the IC3 and Train the Trainer courses, their certification is submitted to Certiport who then accredit them as a Global IC3 Trainer, thus giving them an independent career path.

IT Squad

Children's Computer Club - In this course children will be shown how to use creative software and work as small teams in different projects such as Photography, Comic Life, Movie Making, Word, Animation and Publisher.

Drop In Facilities

Most centres offer ‘Drop In ‘Facilities. This gives users the opportunity to literally drop into a centre to use the IT facilities for their own personal requirements. Please contact your own centre to see the times they are available. There is no charge for this facility.
