Chinese Musicians visit to Ballymun

To celebrate the official visit of the Mayor of Beijing, Mr Guo Jinlong to Dublin for the twinning of Dublin and Beijing on the 9th of September, young musicians from the Ballymun Music Programme, met and performed with musicians travelling with the Mayor from the Central Conservatory of Music, China. The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr. Andrew Montague and music students from the string band met the Chinese musicians in the Music Room at St. Joseph's Senior School, in Ballymun. In honour of their visit, the musicians from Ballymun performed an instrumental music recital which was followed by a performance by the Chinese musicians who spoke to the children about the traditonal chinese instruments they were playing. The students were also delighted to have the opportunity to try out these unique instruments and to perform with the Chinese musicians.
