Higher Education Access Route (HEAR)
HEAR has been successful in widening access to socio-economically disadvantaged students. Indeed, hundreds of Access students have gone on to college, graduates and are achieving positions of distinction in their careers.
Through the HEAR scheme, students who meet socio-economic criteria can apply for full-time courses at the following institutions:
• DCU
• DIT
• NUIG
• NUIM
• TCD
• UCC
• UCD
• UL
• Coláiste Mhuire, Marino Institute of Education
• Church of Ireland, College of Education
• Froebel College of Education
• Mary Immaculate College, Limerick
• Mater Dei Institute of Education
• St. Angela’s College, Sligo
• St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra
The benefits of HEAR are that eligible students can enter higher education at a lower level of points and receive supports when they start college. For more specific information, please check out DIT's admissions website or http://www.accesscollege.ie/.
