Information for Schools

All in the field of education agree that the earlier perceptions are developed among young people about the opportunities afforded by higher education, the better.

To do this, the Access Service works directly with 70 primary and second level schools and, through the Higher Education Access Route (HEAR), indirectly with 220 designated disadvantaged schools nationwide.

The schools liaison arm of the Access Service aims to develop positive perceptions of education and improve academic attainment for students from backgrounds where there is little tradition of 3rd-level education.  The school activities are delivered in association with primary and second level disadvantaged schools linked to DIT.
